The Port of Gdynia has become a Partner of the Start of Stage 1 of the 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour. Poland’s most important cycling race began on 3 August in Gdynia, from where the riders set off on the 234-kilometre route to Koszalin.

This year’s edition of the Tour de Pologne is being held under the slogan ‘North–South’. Over the course of seven days, world-class cyclists will cover a total of 1,111 kilometres, travelling across Poland from the Baltic Sea to the southern part of the country. The final result of the competition will be decided on 9 August by an individual time trial, starting and finishing at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine.

This year’s race inauguration took on a special character. The day before the competition began, an official team presentation was held on board the ORP „Błyskawica” (Warship of the Republic of Poland „Lightning”) . The following day, the peloton set off from Kościuszko Square, in the immediate vicinity of the port of Gdynia.

“The port and cycling have more in common than one might think – what counts is pace, endurance, precision and a steadfast pursuit of the goal. We are delighted that this year’s Tour de Pologne set off from Gdynia, a city built around its port and open to the world. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase a modern, dynamic Gdynia and the port that drives its development to millions of viewers,” says Piotr Gorzeński, Chairman of the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A,

Twenty-one teams lined up at the start of the 83rd Tour de Pologne: 18 teams from the top division of world cycling, two teams invited by the organisers, and the Polish national team. The first stage took the riders along the undulating roads of Pomerania and Kashubia. The route included, amongst other things, sprint points in Kartuzy, Bytów and Polanów, as well as a climb point on Góra Chełmska, just six kilometres from the finish line in Koszalin.

The Port of Gdynia’s partnership with the Tour de Pologne forms part of initiatives combining the promotion of sport, the city and the region. The race’s inclusion in the international UCI WorldTour calendar allows us to showcase to spectators in Poland and abroad the places that make Gdynia unique – a city founded alongside the port and which has developed thanks to its presence from the very beginning.

Each of the seven stages is broadcast on Telewizja Polska, Eurosport and the HBO Max platform. According to the organiser, coverage of the race reaches fans in 65 countries, combining sporting competition with the international promotion of Poland and the regions through which the route passes. The 83rd Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour takes place from 3 to 9 August 2026. The route runs successively from Gdynia to Koszalin, from Międzyzdroje to Szczecin, from Gorzów Wielkopolski to Zielona Góra, from Żagań to Karpacz, from Opole to Kocierz Resort, and from Bukovina Resort to Bukowina Tatrzańska. The finale will be an individual time trial at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine.
