Grain handling at the Port of Gdynia increased by 13% in the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year. Cargo handling operations are currently proceeding without disruption at the three active terminals operating within the Port.

By the end of April 2026, the Port of Gdynia handled a total of 1.67 million tons of grain—nearly 200,000 tons more than in the same period of 2025.

Currently, grain handling is carried out by HES Gdynia Bulk Terminal, OT Port Gdynia, and Speed. A grain terminal, which accounts for approximately 10% of Port Gdynia’s grain handling capacity, is also set to join the group of active terminals in this segment. It is currently in the process of changing operators and preparing for the new lessee to commence operations.

The conclusion and entry into force of the new lease agreement for the grain terminal require the approval of the European Commission following an assessment of the planned capital concentration among the members of the Consortium, which includes Szczecin Bulk Terminal, Tapini, and Ribera—the new terminal operator. The standard pre-notification phase, which began in October of last year, is currently underway. At this stage, the parties involved are conducting working consultations with European Commission officials and providing the information necessary to submit a formal application, which will initiate formal proceedings before the European Commission.
