On March 29, 2023, a meeting was held in Oslo of an international consortium, which, within the framework of funding received from the NCBiR, is carrying out a project called: Marine port surveillance and observation system using mobile unmanned research units.

The main objective of the project is to verify the possibility of using unmanned units in the daily operation of the Port of Gdynia. The modern unit serves not only to monitor the environment, but also provides a valuable source of knowledge for state institutions in relation to the behavior of unmanned units in port areas and the creation of new related regulations. In 2023, the project entered the final phase of implementation, during which, among other things, numerous bathymetric sessions with the use of the unmanned unit are scheduled, the publication of the first results and outcomes of the project, and the registration of the first unmanned unit in Poland with a seaworthiness certificate.

The project, implemented under the POLNOR 2019 Call program, announced by the National Center for Research and Development, has received funding in the amount of 5,454,456.03 with 85% of the funds coming from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and 15% from the Polish state budget.
