The President of the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. was awarded the "Pro Patria" medal.
On 14 February 1942, by order of the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces - General Władysław Sikorski, the Union of Armed Struggle was transformed into the Home Army. It was the largest resistance movement in Europe.
On this occasion, on Friday, at the Home Army Soldiers Monument in Sopot, creation of the Home Army was commemorated. Soldiers of the Home Army fought for the regaining of Poland's independence, conducting armed and sabotage actions. They prepared the underground army for the Warsaw Uprising.
During the ceremonies commemorating this event, medals and decorations were awarded. Adam Meller, President of the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. was awarded the "Pro Patria" medal for his merits in cultivating the memory of the fight for independence of the Republic of Poland. The Port of Gdynia has been supporting the activities of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers for over two years.
