Seatrade Cruise Global is world’s most important event in the sea tourism industry. The Port of Gdynia delegation participates in it for another time, promoting Poland with an advertising slogan “Destination Poland”.
The fairs and conference accompanying it take place in Miami, Florida. They unite more than 11000 professionals and over 70 liners round a singular sensation: feeling at home on the sea.
“Port of Gdynia, who is able to receive the largest cruise liners sailing on Baltic is the gate to Pomerania and entire Poland,” says Adam Meller, President of the Port of Gdynia Authority. “Through our participation in the Seatrade Cruise Global we were able to present the port’s potential in this scope. We were met with great interest, both by ship-owners and tourism agencies. It is a proof of recognition of our infrastructure’s potential and of services rendered by the port. In 2018 more than 100,000 tourists arrived in Gdynia on cruise liners, becoming ambassadors of our country, boosting the region’s economy, shopping and taking advantage of touristic attractions of Pomerania.”
As each year, the fairs is attended by representatives of the world’s largest cruise liner owners, tour operators, companies equipping passenger ships, tourism agencies and sea ports.
“This year more liners will call at the Port of Gdansk than in previous years. The growing number of tourists arriving in Poland means not only money for ports, cities and the region, but it is first of all a great advertisement of Poland among tourists from abroad. And this is exactly why we are in Miami – to advertise Poland as a touristic destination,” explains Marcin Osowski, Vice President of the Port of Gdansk Authority.
Tricity ports were accompanied in Miami by Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization and Gdansk Tourism Organisation, inviting fair participants to visit Pomerania – its attractions and monuments. Usually, after mooring, liner passengers go to visit Tricity, Malbork or on a trip inside Kaszuby region. In Miami the Tourism Organisation presents the region’s touristic potential to rise interest in even larger number of entities dealing with sea tourism.
This year the liner season begins as soon as in April. MSC Poesia flying the Panama flag will call at the Port of Gdynia on 24 April. Four days later MS Magellan will call at the port of Gdansk.
