On 7 November 2014 the Pearls of the Polish Economy Gala was held for the twelfth time in the Ballroom of the Royal Castle in Warsaw, during which the results of the ranking “Pearls of Polish Economy 2014” were announced. Port of Gdynia Authority SA was in the 4th place in the category of Large Pearls and received the 3rd place and “Champion” class in the ranking of companies in the sector “Production and Services”.

This important event was organized by the publisher of the English-language monthly “Polish Market” under the patronade of: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy – Mr. Janusz Piechociński, President of the Polish Academy of Sciences - Professor Michał Kleiber and Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics - Professor Tomasz Szapiro.

During the gala statuettes were awarded for the best business operators selected in the ranking. The title “Pearl of the Polish Economy” was awarded in two categories: Great Pearls and Large Pearls. The category “Great Pearls” covers companies whose annual revenues exceed PLN 1 billion, the category “Large Pearls” includes companies with revenues from PLN 100 million to 1 billion.

This year the Great Pearl of the Polish Economy was awarded, among others, to PGE Polish Energy Group, Municipal Water and Sewerage Company in the Capital City of Warsaw SA and to Totalizator Sportowy Sp.z o.o. Port of Gdynia Authority SA came in the 4th place among the winners in the category “Large Pearls” - just after the GPEC Group, PETRAX Sp. z o.o. and AC S.A. In addition, the Port of Gdynia Authority SA received the 3rd place, thus rating in the “Champion” class - in the ranking of companies in the sector “Production and Services”. In this category only the GPEC Group and PGE Polish Energy Group came ahead of the Port of Gdynia Authority SA.

It is worth emphasizing that the ranking published by the editors of the Polish Market has been developed in cooperation with the Department of Decision Support and Analysis, Institute of Econometrics, Warsaw School of Economics. This is the only qualitative ranking in Poland that is not made on the basis of subjective assessments.

This is the sixth time that the Port of Gdynia Authority SA was listed among companies awarded the “Large Pearl”. Last year we were at the 51st place in the classification, in 2012 at the 43rd place, and in 2011 at the 54th place. In 2010 the Port of Gdynia Authority SA came in the 50th place in the category “Large Pearls” and in the 11th place in the category “Pearls of the Infrastructure Sector”; and in 2009 it was also ranked in the category “Large Pearls” and given the 6th place in the classification “Pearls of the Infrastructure Sector”.

This year’s position of the Port of Gdynia Authority SA in the ranking is a great success, because the company climbed 47 positions compared to last year's place.
