The Port of Gdynia has been awarded for its contribution in the development of the Pomeranian Voivodeship after the 1989 breakthrough at a conference "30 years of Economic Transformation of the Pomeranian Voivodeship” organized at the Gdansk Entrepreneurship Incubator STARTER. The port is one of the 30 enterprises awarded with “Gazeta Wyborcza no. 1” by "Gazeta Wyborcza Trójmiasto".

“At the anniversary of 30 years of economic transformation in Poland „Gazeta Wyborcza Trójmiasto” distinguished those companies that contributed the most to the development and blossom of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. They are companies written by capital C”, explains Grzegorz Kubicki, editor-in-chief of “Gazeta Wyborcza Trójmiasto”.

The newspaper’s editorial team has selected companies which in their opinion have contributed the most to boosting Pomeranian economy and proudly represent the region in the country and outside it. Development of the Port of Gdynia has always been beneficial to the region and the country. 97 years ago, the Port of Gdynia came to being as a living showcase of the-then Poland, its economic potential and technical skills. Within few years the Port of Gdynia became the largest port on Baltic and one of the Europe’s larger ports. From the very beginning the port has been playing an important role in building the present and the future. Speaking of the city one may not mention people related directly to the maritime economy – the Port of Gdynia is today one the largest employers in Gdynia and has a direct and indirect impact on the city’s character. Through its dynamic operations related directly to port investments the Port of Gdynia is shaping Gdynia’s new potential, bringing great profits to the city. In 2018, only from the real estate tax, the Port of Gdynia contributed the amount of 14 285 000 PLN to the City of Gdynia budget, and once the Outer Port is built it is estimated that this amount will grow to 22 685 000 PLN. In 2018 we had nearly 350 lessees in the port, bringing income to the city.

The Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. continues its efforts to ensure that the neighbourhood of the port brings various benefits to the city of Gdynia and the entire region and to represent Poland with dignity on the international market by constantly improving its services. The award is a motivation for further work!
