Spring and summer 2017 at the Port of Gdynia will see a lot of passenger ships – it is expected that 42 large passenger ships will call at the port. The passenger ship season will be inaugurated on 14 May 2017, when MSC Magnifica, an almost 294-meter long cruiser, flying the flag of Panama, will dock at Nabrzeże Francuskie of the Port of Gdynia.
MSC Magnifica, with a displacement of more than 95,000 DWT and a speed of 23 knots, joined the MSC fleet in 2010. There are 1259 cabins and suites on the ship, of which over 60 percent have panoramic windows and private balconies to enjoy the sea view. Cabins and suites are divided into different categories depending on their size, location and privileges of their residents. There are also cabins adapted to the needs of people with limited motor skills.
“Gdynia has been a traditional destination for passenger ships for many years, and visits of such ‘floating hotels’ give a huge advantage not only to the port or the city itself, but also to the whole region”, says Adam Meller, President of the Port of Gdynia Authority. “We always try to make our offer as attractive as possible. Therefore, we not only encourage ship-owners to call at our port, but primarily, we invest in port infrastructure”.
