Net profit for 2011, which is about PLN 51.6 million (118.9%) higher in comparison with 2010, amounted to PLN 95.0 million. This result was significantly influenced by privatization of two port companies - Morski Terminal Masowy Gdynia Sp. z o.o. (Maritime Bulk Terminal Gdynia) and WUŻ Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Żeglugowych i Portowych Gdynia Sp. z o.o. The gain on sale of shares in both entities amounted to PLN 57.7 million.

In the year 2011 the Port of Gdynia reached the second largest in the history of operating results: 15.9 million tons of handled cargo. It so happened that the achieved net profit [PLN 95 million] is also the second biggest profit in the history of the Port of Gdynia SA.

In 2011, the Port of Gdynia provided services to 3371 vessels comparing to 3526 calls in the last year. Slight decrease in the number of calls, however, was accompanied by an increase in average vessel tonnage, resulting both from the progressive consolidation of shipping markets and the use of the Port of Gdynia improved parameters of infrastructure of the quays and the port channel by the clients. The result was a second, another year of growth in cargo handling.

Total cargo handling in the main Polish ports in 2011 amounted to 62.57 million tons, showing a minimal decline of 0.3% compared to 62.76 million tons in 2010.

Port of Gdynia achieved the second highest result of 15.91 million tons in its cargo handling history, 8% better compared to 2010. The share of Gdynia in the last year's turnover of Polish ports amounted to 25.4% and it was higher by 2% compared to 2010. The Port of Gdynia traditionally plays a leading role in handling of general cargo: in 2011 it recorded the highest share among the Polish ports in this group of cargo - 36.6% (9.56 million tons), outdistancing Szczecin-Świnoujście cooperative with their 35.5% share (9.29 million tons) and Gdańsk with its 27.9% share (7.30 million tons .)
