On January 18, 2012 the largest container ship in the history of the Port of Gdynia - MSC Krystal called at the BCT - Baltic Container Terminal.
This vessel, built in December 2007, is classified as a large vessel - it is 277.3 meters long and 40 meters wide, with a capacity of 5,762 TEUs. MSC Krystal arrived to the port of Gdynia from Bremerhaven; its destination port is Klaipeda. Such a vessel was able to call at the Terminal thanks to the deepening of the port channel to 13.5 m within the project called "Reconstruction of the Port Channel in the Port of Gdynia" - co-financed by the European Union.
