The Port of Gdynia Authority S.A., as the entity that administrates the port areas, used to invest not only in port infrastructure, but also in supra-structure, adapting port facilities to the changing market needs. Old warehouses disappear from the port landscape making space for new investment projects. Sometimes they are transformed and adjusted entirely new functions.
On Monday, 31 October 2011, at the headquarters of the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A., an agreement was signed for the reconstruction and expansion of the storage and office building at ul. Polska 13A, known to the inhabitants of Gdynia as Posti building.
As a result of this investment the building will be completely rebuilt, and the surrounding area will be suitably developed. The objective of the investment is to adapt the building for office and school functions.
Nine bids were submitted during the procedure for selecting contractor conducted in an open tender. The contract was awarded to Mostostal Warszawa SA, which placed a bid of total gross amount of more than 21 million. All the works under the contract as well as the obtainment of the occupancy permit is planned before the end of March 2013.
PGA S.A. - the owner of the building and also an investor in this project is about to close the negotiations, as a result of which approximately 75 % of the building floor shall be leased. It will house, inter alia, the new headquarters of the Maritime School that was located at the premises of Dalmor.
Looking at the visualization of the new building - one may assume that it is going to be another architectural pride of ul. Polska and the entire Port of Gdynia.
