On 2-5 September Gdynia hosted dozens of tall ships from all over the world on the occasion of one of the most important marine events for Gdynia this year - The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta. This year's theme of the rally was the promotion of the culture of the Baltic Sea countries. GOSiR - Gdynia Sport and Recreation Centre - organized the event on behalf of the City of Gdynia - the host of the rally.
At the request of the organizer, on 5 September in the afternoon, the fire-fighting ship "Firefighter 14" - a unit of the Port of Gdynia Authority SA - opened the Great Tall Ships Parade. The yachts, sailboats and the world's largest sail ships under full sail could be admired on the waters along the shoreline from Sopot to Gdynia. "Firefighter 14" added splendor to the parade presenting their firefighting foam and water guns. After reaching Gdynia "Firefighter 14" assisted in the farewell of all vessels - participants of the rally of sailing ships that continued their journey. A spectacular demonstration of the firefighting abilities of the vessel to the audience of this year's rally of the sailing ships in President's Basin crowned the event.
