Great sailing event at the Port of Gdynia


One of the most important marine events for Gdynia this year will take place between 2-5 September - The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta. This year's theme of the rally is the promotion of the culture of the Baltic Sea countries. Two stages of the race will take place within the framework of the event: the first one - form Klaipeda in Lithuania to Turku, and the second one from Turku to Gdynia, where the grand finale will take place.

The sailing ships will stay in Gdynia for four days and their stay will be crowned with a parade of all vessels under full sail. The event will be spiced up with shanty and jazz concerts on the outdoor stages and in the clubs of Gdynia, the march of the vessels' crews through the streets of the city, fireworks and a concert on the beach.

The world's largest four-mast vessels: Kruzensztern and Sedov, shall be regarded as the most attractive of the ships, which will be made available to the public. Zawisza Czarny - the legendary schooner of Gdynia that is celebrating its 50th anniversary of the flag hoisting will be a special guest of honour of the rally. The most important vessels that confirmed their participation in the ships rally in Gdynia - The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta - are: Sedov (the world's largest sail training vessel), Kruzensztern (that moored in the port of Gdynia not so long ago - on June 12, 2010), Dar Młodzieży, Mir (a twin brother of Dar Młodzieży coming from St. Petersburg), Gulden Leeuw, Thalassa, Zawisza Czarny, Fryderyk Chopin, Johann Smidt, De Gallant, Brabander, Tecla, Lietuva, Villa Mare, Fujimo, Śmiały, 4 Oceans' Dream, Camelot, Elena.
