Loading the Northern Bridge at the Port of Gdynia


On Thursday, 14 April 2011, at the Port of Gdynia, with the use of the port floating crane – Maja, the second span of the Northern Bridge was loaded onto the barge.  The first span of the Northern Bridge arrived in Warsaw on 29th of March.  This 60-meter-long section of the M3 construction that is the southern road bridge weighs over 500 ton and it arrived from Gdynia on the barge with a displacement 1000 tons.  The journey upstream the Vistula River took one week.  The Northern Bridge will be about 795 m long. The construction will be composed of three separate engineering structures: the northern roadway, the southern roadway and the tram line with the bicycle / pedestrian way.
