The Port of Gdynia Authority SA, as the managing entity of the port area and its infrastructure, is taking care not only of high efficiency and effectiveness of the port’s operation – it is also concerned about keeping the appropriate standards of safety of persons and cargo as well as environmental standards.

An agreement between the Port of Gdynia Authority SA and the Baltic Grain Terminal (Bałtycki Terminal Zbożowy Sp. z o.o. - BTZ) on joint realization of the investment was signed on 11.03.2011. It will improve the resources within the facility and increase the cargo handling capacity in the area of the port of Gdynia.

The PGA-SA undertook to build a new warehouse in place of the existing “P” warehouse under this agreement. The newly built facility - still belonging to the Port Authority - will be leased to BTZ on the basis of the binding lease agreement. The Baltic Grain Terminal’s contribution to the planned investment will consist in the commissioning of the development of the design documentation necessary for the realization of this investment and equipment of the new warehouse.

The facility that will be built under this agreement at the Indyjska street will replace the existing “P” warehouse. The new warehouse floor area for storage of meal and feed will meet all requirements of ISO and GMP standards for the food chain and all of environmental standards that so important to the surroundings and the city of Gdynia.

The warehouse of the storage capacity of 30 000 tonnes - calculated for the soybean meal, will be 235 m long, 32 m wide and 20m high at the roof ridge. Adjusting the shape of the warehouse roof to the natural angle of the meal heap will allow for the optimal use of its capacity. Combining the conveyor system of the warehouse with the elevator will enable filling the warehouse with the soybean meal directly from the vessels handled at the Indian Quay (Nabrzeże Indyjskie).

Estimated total cost of investment amounts to approximately PLN 25 million - of which approximately PLN 16 million will be the cost of building of the warehouse covered by the PGA-SA and about PLN 9 million shall be invested by BTZ Sp. z o. o. in the technological equipment.

The new warehouse will enlarge the storage capacity of the terminal and will have a positive influence on the handling of ships importing goods at the Indian Quay (Nabrzeże Indyjskie).

Magazyn o pojemności składowej 30 000 ton - w przeliczeniu na śrutę sojową, będzie miał wymiary: długość 235 m, szerokość 32 m oraz wysokość w kalenicy 20m. Dostosowanie kształtu zadaszenia magazynu do kąta naturalnego usypu śruty pozwoli na maksymalne wykorzystanie jego objętości. Dzięki  połączeniu systemem przenośników magazynu z elewatorem możliwe będzie napełnianie magazynu śrutą sojową bezpośrednio ze statków obsługiwanych przy Nabrzeżu Indyjskim. Przewidywany  łączny koszt  inwestycji (tj.  wybudowanie magazynu oraz wyposażenie technologiczne) to ok. 25 mln zł.

Nowy magazyn zwiększy zdolność składową terminalu i wpłynie korzystnie na obsługę statków w relacji importowej przy Nabrzeżu Indyjskim.
