The Port of Gdynia honoured with the "Amber Egg" Award



The Chapter of awards at the yearly “Duck Meeting” of the maritime business industry in Gdynia , considered the reconstruction of Polska Street project, as the achievement worth granting an “Amber Egg” honourable award.

On 8th October this year, the “Gdynia” Sports and Show Hall, was a venue of the 11th  “Duck Meeting” gathering Gdansk Region maritime business industry. For the 10th time the Polish Chamber of Maritime Commerce in Gdynia considered the candidatures for awards to honour the most spectacular achievements in Polish maritime business last year. The following laureates  have been honoured after a secret vote :


  1. Special “Amber Duck” Award for the long-term financial support of the projects that modernize the Polish maritime business, implemented with the assistance of the Kingdom of Norway government was awarded to - Det Norske Veritas  Co.Ltd. in Gdynia.

  2. The Honourable “Amber Duck” Award for the most spectacular achievements in Polish maritime business  in 2009, was awarded to Finnlines Polska Co.Ltd. and  WARTA Insurance and Reinsurance S.A.

  3. The Honourable “Amber Egg” Mentionwas awarded to J.Pilsudski Gdansk Ships Repair Yard SA and the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A.

The Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. was honoured for the reconstruction of Polska Street solving the transportation problems in part of the Port of Gdynia area.
The award for Finnlines Polska Co.Ltd was granted for launching the new shipping connection - motorway of the sea - linking the Port of Gdynia with Helsinki and Rostock by the newest Ro-Pax ships. Award received by Finnlines is partly the success of Port of Gdynia which has been consistently modernizing infrastructure for providing Ro - Ro services in Gdynia.
