According to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment dated 2nd October 2007 on the requirements for conducting measurements of the levels of substances or energy in the environment by the operator of roads, railways, tramway lines, airports, ports (Journal of Laws of 2007, No. 192, item 1392), the EKOLAB Sp. o.o conducted noise measurements in the Port of Gdynia in the period from 30.11 to 04.12.2010.
The measurements were carried out during normal loading and unloading and transport related operations throughout the Port of Gdynia.
The main operations related to environmental noise emissions were conducted in the area of individual quays at a considerable distance from the areas that are subject to protection against noise. Kuusakoski Sp. z o.o. and the BCT- Baltic Container Terminal Sp. z o.o. which are located in the vicinity of residential areas are the exceptions here.
The results of measurements and calculations indicate that the permissible values are exceeded at the borders of the protected areas bordering to the BCT- Baltic Container Terminal Sp. z o.o. and the Kuusakoski Sp. z o.o. (scrap yard). An important factor influencing the acoustic climate in these areas is the traffic noise from the Kwiatkowski Flyover and ul. Bernarda Chrzanowskiego.
