Privatization processes in ZMPG SA
The privatization processes run by the Port of Gdynia Authority SA fulfil the statutory tasks and one of the priorities determined in the Port of Gdynia Development Strategy.
Ports management model that has been adopted in Poland involves separation of the spheres of management and operation, which in practice means exclusion of public entities that manage the ports from the market of operator services. The task of ports management is to ensure free access to the services provided on competitive basis by private sector based operator entities.
Beginning of the privatization processes has been designated by the document "Strategy for privatization of companies and ancillary services of ZMP Gdynia S.A. against a background of Port of Gdynia development strategy" of the year 2001. This strategy, updated several times, defined the mode of privatization of each of the related companies and set the main objectives of privatization:
- preservation of the public nature of the Port,
- targeting on branch investors who can guarantee further technological, organizational and capital development to the privatized companies,
- obtaining the highest possible price for the shares sold and the allocation of gains from disposal of shares to the statutory objectives of ZMPG S.A.,
- ensuring ZMPG S.A. a stable stream of incomes from rent/lease of the port superstructure premises by privatized companies.
